Air Tightness Testing
Air Tightness testing is an approved method of testing the air leakage of a building.
Energy Audits are registered to conduct Air Tightness Testing, a member of The British Institute of Non Destructive Testing (BINDT) and therefore a qualified testing company to conduct Air Permeability Tests and provide the necessary certification to the required ATTMA “TS1″ quality standards. Membership of BINDT is your assurance of quality and Building Control approval.
Air leakage is the un-controlled flow of air through gaps and cracks within the structure of the building. Too much air leakage leads to unnecessary heat loss and the resultant increase in energy costs for the building and discomfort to the occupants in the form of cold draughts.
Air tightness is now a major performance issue to ensure a higher energy efficiency and compliance with the Building Regulations.
Air leakage testing assists in the detection of gaps and cracks, even those which are covered by construction materials such as cladding, during the depressurisation process.
Our fully trained and qualified operatives are available to provide this testing service to your property, produce a report and the certification identifying the measured results.
A satisfactory Air Tightness Test will give a developer a unique opportunity to advise potential customers of the high level of energy efficiency their property can achieve and therefore reduce the energy costs for the property.
Energy Audits can offer additional services, such as a pre-test, or an on site pre-inspection. The service of a pre-inspection, aims to identify week spots at an early stage. Such an inspection will subsequently improve the quality of the construction and the likelihood of a successful Air Tightness Test on completion.
